高壓柱塞泵的使用壓力一般應在10MPa～100MPa之間。它屬于容積式泵，借助工作腔里的容積周期性變化來達到輸送液體的目的；原動機的機械能經(jīng)泵直接轉化為輸送液體的壓力能；泵的容量只取決于工作腔容積變化值及其在單位時間內的變化次數(shù)，理論上與排出壓力無關。往復泵是借助于活塞在液缸工作腔內的往復運動（或通過隔膜、波紋管等撓性元件在工作腔內的周期性彈性變形）來使工作腔容積產(chǎn)生周期性變化的。在結構上，往復泵的工作腔是借助密封裝置與外界隔開，通過泵閥（吸入閥和排出閥）與管路溝通或閉合。
主要特點：
●瞬時流量是脈動的
這是因為在柱塞泵中，液體介質的吸入和排出過程是交替進行的，而且活塞在位移過程中，其速度又在不斷地變化之中。在只有一個工作腔的泵中，泵的瞬時流量不僅隨時間而變化，而且是不連續(xù)的。隨著工作腔的增多，瞬時流量的脈動幅度越來越小，乃至在實用上可以認為是紊流。
●平均流量是恒定的
理論上，泵的流量只取決于泵的主要結構參數(shù) n（每分鐘往復次數(shù)）、S（活塞行程）、D（活塞直徑）、Z（活塞數(shù)目），與排出壓力無關，且與輸送介質的溫度、粘度等物理、化學性質無關。所以說泵的流量是恒定的。
●泵的壓力取決于管道特性
柱塞泵的排出壓力不能由泵本身限定，而是取決于泵裝置的管道特性，并且與流量無關。也就是說，如果認為輸送液體是不可壓縮的，那么，在理論上可認為往復泵的排出壓力將不受任何限制，即可根據(jù)泵裝置的管道特性，建立泵的任何所需的排出壓力。當然，所有往復泵都有一個泵的排出壓力的規(guī)定，這不是說該泵的排出壓力不會再升高，而只是說，由于原動機額定功率和泵本身的結構強度的限制，不允許在超出這一排出壓力下使用而己。
●對輸送介質有較強的適應性
柱塞泵原則上可以輸送任何介質，幾乎不受介質的物理性能和化學性能的限制。當然，由于液力端的材料和制造工藝以及密封技術的限制，有時也會遇到不能適應的情況。
●有良好的自吸性能
柱塞泵不僅有良好的吸入性能，而且還有良好的自吸性能。因此，對多數(shù)往復泵來說，在啟動前通常不需灌泵。 機器效率高，節(jié)能。

The working pressure of the high pressure piston pump should generally be between 10 MPa and 100 MPa. It belongs to a positive displacement pump, and the purpose of conveying liquid is achieved by the periodic change of the volume in the working chamber; the mechanical energy of the prime mover is directly converted into the pressure energy of the liquid by the pump; the capacity of the pump depends only on the volume change of the working chamber and The number of changes in unit time is theoretically independent of the discharge pressure. The reciprocating pump periodically changes the working chamber volume by means of the reciprocating motion of the piston in the working chamber of the liquid cylinder (or periodic elastic deformation in the working chamber by flexible elements such as diaphragms and bellows). Structurally, the working chamber of the reciprocating pump is separated from the outside by means of a sealing device, and communicates or closes with the pipeline through the pump valve (suction valve and discharge valve).

This is because in the plunger pump, the suction and discharge processes of the liquid medium alternate, and the speed of the piston is constantly changing during the displacement process. In a pump with only one working chamber, the instantaneous flow of the pump not only changes over time, but is also discontinuous. As the working chamber increases, the amplitude of the pulsation of the instantaneous flow becomes smaller and smaller, and even practically, it can be considered as turbulent flow.
●The average flow is constant
In theory, the pump flow depends only on the pump's main structural parameters n (reciprocation times per minute), S (piston stroke), D (piston diameter), Z (number of pistons), independent of discharge pressure, and with the transport medium. Physical and chemical properties such as temperature and viscosity are irrelevant. So the pump flow is constant.
●The pressure of the pump depends on the characteristics of the pipe
The discharge pressure of the plunger pump cannot be defined by the pump itself, but depends on the piping characteristics of the pump unit and is independent of the flow rate. That is to say, if the delivery liquid is considered to be incompressible, then it is theoretically considered that the discharge pressure of the reciprocating pump will not be unduly limited, and any desired discharge pressure of the pump can be established depending on the piping characteristics of the pump device. Of course, all reciprocating pumps have a discharge pressure regulation of the pump. This is not to say that the discharge pressure of the pump will not rise any more, but only because of the limitation of the prime mover's rated power and the structural strength of the pump itself, it is not allowed. Use it beyond this discharge pressure.

In principle, the plunger pump can transport any medium, virtually independent of the physical and chemical properties of the medium. Of course, due to the limitations of the material and manufacturing process of the hydraulic end and the sealing technology, sometimes it is difficult to adapt.
